Ergina

L’ergina, il cui termine nella nomenclatura ufficiale IUPAC è: (8β)-9,10-dideidro-6-metil-ergolin-8-carbossiamide è un alcaloide allucinogeno presente in natura.
L’ergina ha formula bruta o molecolare: C16H17N3O ed è un’ammide dell’acido lisergico, nota anche con i nomi di: LSA e lisergamide.
L’ergina, come detto, è una sostanza presente in natura in alcune piante. La si trova in diverse varietà del genere Ipomoea, come l’Ipomoea violacea (Ipomoea violacea L.) in concentrazione di circa 10 µg per seme; è presente altresì nell’Argyreia nervosa (Argyreia nervosa (Burm.f.) Bojer) alla concentrazione dello 0,13% di peso nel materiale vegetale secco e nella Rivea corymbosa (Turbina corymbosa; (L.‎) ‎Raf.).
È presente, inoltre, in concentrazioni varie in altre specie.
L’assunzione di ergina provoca per alcune ore modificazioni del pensiero, delle percezioni, delle sensazioni e dello stato di coscienza. È simile ad altri alcaloidi dell’ergot come l’isoergina, il lisergolo, l’ergometrina.

L’effetto dell’ergina è, comunque, molto più blando di quello dell’LSD.
Per quanto non siano note interazioni con i farmaci, l’azione dell’ergina è inibita dai farmaci anti-HIV e dunque è possibile che l’uso di farmaci antiretrovirali ne aumenti la tossicità.
La dose tossica nell’uomo è di 14 microgrammi per chilo di peso corporeo.

It is found in several varieties of the Ipomoea genus, such as Ipomoea violacea (Ipomoea violacea L.) in a concentration of about 10 µg per seed; it is also present in Argyreia nervosa (Argyreia nervosa (Burm.f.) Bojer) at a concentration of 0.13% by weight in the dry plant material and in Rivea corymbosa (Turbina corymbosa; (L.) Raf.).

Taking ergine causes changes in thought, perceptions, sensations, and state of consciousness for a few hours. It is similar to other ergot alkaloids such as isoergine, lysergol, ergometrine.

Although interactions with drugs are not known, the action of ergine is inhibited by anti-HIV drugs and therefore it is possible that the use of antiretroviral drugs increases their toxicity.
