How to prepare pineapple syrup

The pineapple (Ananas comosus (L.) Merr.) is a plant of the Bromeliaceae family, native to a geographical area that includes Brazil, Bolivia, Paraguay and Cuba.
In addition to being able to be consumed fresh, pineapple can be processed in various ways including the preparation of syrup.
Making pineapple syrup is a fairly simple process. Here is a basic recipe you can follow:
Ingredients:
– 1 ripe pineapple (preferably from organic production);
– 1 cup of sugar;
– 1 cup of water;
Instructions:
1. Peel and cut the pineapple: Remove the peel and core of the pineapple. Cut the pineapple pulp into smaller pieces.
2. Cook the pineapple: In a saucepan, add the pineapple pieces, sugar and water. Mix well to make sure the sugar dissolves evenly.
3. Bring to a boil: Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 15-20 minutes. Continue stirring occasionally.
4. Foam: During cooking, foam may form on the surface. You can remove them with a spoon or skimmer.
5. Strain the mixture: After cooking, remove the mixture from the heat and let it cool slightly. Next, strain the liquid through a fine sieve or cheesecloth to remove the pineapple pieces and obtain a smooth syrup.
6. Storing the syrup: Pour the syrup into an airtight container and let it cool completely before storing it in the refrigerator. It can be stored for several weeks.
Now you have homemade pineapple syrup that you can use to sweeten drinks, add flavor to desserts or create cocktails. You can also experiment with adding spices or herbs to customize your pineapple syrup.
