Mesocarp

By the term mesocarp, in botany, we mean the intermediate part of the fruit that is commonly called pulp in the case of fleshy fruits. This tissue is therefore intermediate between the epicarp and the endocarp.
The mesocarp derives from the transformation of the parenchyma of the ovary wall.

The tissue that constitutes the mesocarp is called parenchymal.
This fabric can assume different conformations. In the drupes it is called sarcocarp while in the esperidi, characteristic fruit of the citrus fruits, it is more specifically called albedo.
