7th Episode – MADRETERRA CAFFE

MADRETERRA CAFFE’ born from the determination and ecological conviction of two young Sicilians: Aurelio Bracco and Letizia Raimondi of the Mosaic Association of Palermo.
Already distributors with the ecommerce site “Vetrina Solidale” and distributors of Equocaffé in Sicily, in 2015 decided to undertake an autonomous road with an eco-friendly coffee brand, joining in itself two souls, the great passion for coffee and the conviction that the management ecological is the right direction that man must undertake in his constant search for improvement.
In proposing itself as a new juvenile reality, Madreterra Caffè involves other young collaborators to take part in the initiatives, Cristina involved for the foreign trade and to undertake the Fair Laos Coffee, Giuseppe and Alessandro, for logistics and deliveries by bike, contributing each with its task to educate consumers about eco-sustainability.
The coffee comes from the careful selection of the Arabica and Robusta varieties grown in the most suitable areas in Latin America, Africa and Asia (in Asia we support the FAIR LAOS COFFEE project). Coffee is imported directly from local producers in respect of their work and against the exploitation of cheap labor, and specially worked in Sicily by masters roasters, to obtain more full-bodied and creamy blends for all tastes.

With Madreterra Caffè we choose to say NO to plastic, and we promote the use of the eco-kit consisting of small glasses, wooden pallets and sachets of fair-trade sugar, all compostable and biodegradable (paper cups coupled with Mater-Bi or with PLA); Madreterra Caffè also takes care of even the smallest details of the packaging, supplying GOLD packs carefully designed in a natural and appealing style, in jute or cotton bags. For deliveries in the city of Palermo we use a bicycle courier. Using the bike as a means of transport, our deliveries will have zero impact as they will not produce CO2 emissions and help the city to reduce pollution.
Those who buy Madreterra Caffè can become part of a common project and on their own territory: they can spread their aims, values, economic path and eco-sustainable ethics. The pods used for our machines are made of rice paper (100% biodegradable and compostable), to avoid the non-differentiable waste typical of plastic or aluminum capsules.

Thin union of strength and finesse. There the blend of the robust with its toasted notes combined with the Central American arabica, roasted at the right point, guarantee as result a “INTENSE” coffee for the true lovers of Italian espresso.
