Smitilbine, whose term in the official IUPAC nomenclature is: (2R, 3S) -2- (3,5-dihydroxyphenyl) -5,7-dihydroxy-3 – [(2S, 3R, 4R, 6S) -3,4 , 5-trihydroxy-6-methyloxan-2-yl] oxy-2,3-dihydrocromen-4-one is a naturally occurring flavanol.
Smitilbine has a brute or molecular formula: C21H22O11 and is a rhamnoside that can be isolated in some plants such as Smilax glabra and Plantago depressa.
