Lying

Lying

The term Lying, which comes from the accumbens, having the meaning of lying, lying, folded, hanging, indicates one of the position of the cotyledons with respect to the radicle.
In the case of the cotyledons of a plant, these are defined overlapping when the embryonic radicle folds on the margins of the same, developing along their line of separation (commissural).
Conversely, in the case in which the radicle folds on the face of the cotyledons, then these are said instead: looming.
