Camellia oil

Camellia oil

Camellia oil is a natural oil, obtained from the Camellia Oleifera plant (Camellia oleifera C. Abel). Camellia oleifera is an Asian species, native to China, which is known as an important source of edible oil obtained from its seeds.
This oil is obtained, as mentioned, from the seeds of the fruits, very similar to nuts, with more internal almonds, by cold pressing.
Care should be taken not to confuse camellia oil (called Tea seed oil) with tea tree essential oil (or simply Tea tree oil), which derives instead from Melaleuca alternifolia.
Camellia oil has antioxidant properties, as it fights free radicals, antiseptic, as it prevents the formation and proliferation of microbes and bacteria, emollient and soothing, as it is highly appreciated for the benefits it gives to the skin, making it elastic the epidermis, calming irritations and burns and alleviating blemishes. For this latter aspect, camellia oil is very suitable for dry and sensitive skin and to reduce damage from bruises.

Finally, its invigorating properties are remembered, as it has a direct action on elastin and skin collagen.
Camellia oil is indicated for pure use on the face, body or hair, but it combines perfectly with other vegetable oils.
It is mainly indicated as a base for anti-aging products but it also performs very well as a massage oil due to its fluidity.
This oil helps to counteract and prevent every sign of the skin (fresh scars, stretch marks, enlarged pores, damage from acne, dermatitis, blemishes). Finally, its properties are such that it strengthens the hair and makes it softer; in this sense its use is indicated for brittle and treated hair.
From a physical point of view, pure camellia oil is very light and fluid, almost odorless and colorless, with a color that tends slightly to straw yellow.
From a chemical point of view it is remarkably rich in monounsaturated oleic acid (about 85%) and also contains a considerable concentration of vitamin E, as well as polyphenols.
This composition gives it high skin penetration and therefore rapid absorption without leaving films or halos.
