How to extract the essential lemon oil

The lemon essential oil is characterized by remarkable therapeutic properties as well as for aromatic use.
The preparation of the essential lemon (in fact it is an oleolite) oil can also be done at home with little expense and above all with an easy procedure.
For its preparation you need to get 200 ml of extra virgin olive oil (so-called evo oil), 200 ml of almond oil and 5 organic lemons (or similar proportions).
The first operation to be performed is to peel the lemons (only the yellow part) and put it to dry in the sun for three days; if the operation is not done in the summer period then drying can be done near a radiator or a heat source (but not too close to avoid losing some qualities).

Once the skins have dried they must be placed in a jar of suitable capacity, previously sterilized, possibly dark glass, together with olive oils and almond oil to the brim.
At this point the jar must be closed tightly with the lid and placed in a cool and dry place. Everything must rest for a month taking care, every two or three days, to mix everything and to squeeze the skins using a special wooden spoon.
After this period the oil is filtered, the skins are pressed again and put into the jar for another 15 days. At the end of this period you can remove the skins and you can filter the oil by placing it in the final ampoules for the uses that you will have to do.
