Norsecurinine

Norsecurinin is an alkaloid whose name in the official IUPAC nomenclature is: (1S, 8S, 13R) -2-bones-9-azatetracyclo [6.5.1.01,5.09,13] tetradec-4,6-dien-3-one.
Norsecurinin has a brute or molecular formula: C12H13NO2.
This alkaloid is contained in some plants including Gale of the wind (Phyllanthus niruri L.) which is a shrub species belonging to the Euphorbiaceae family.
Phyllanthus niruri is a very widespread tropical plant that is commonly found in coastal areas and that has been used in traditional medicine both by the peoples of the areas where it grows and in other areas, for the treatment of various diseases.
The use of plants belonging to the Phyllanthus genus dates back to about 2000 years ago.
The study on the properties of norsecurinin is in progress to understand its real potential and therefore therapeutic applications.
