Vitexin

Vitexin

Vitexin or isovitexin is a glucoside flavone with a brute or molecular formula: C21H20O10.
Vitexin is an active ingredient present in the Biacospinium and is the glycoside flavone of apigenin or the active ingredient which is found mainly in chamomile leaves and which acts as a spasmolytic, sedative and natural anxiolytic.
In nature, vitexin, as well as in the common hawthorn (Crataegus monogyna Jacq., 1775) and in the chamomile leaves, we also find it in the Agnocasto (Vitex agnus-castus) and in the Milfoil Achillea (Achillea millefolium L.).
It is also present in the passion flower.
Its aglycone is apigenin and the sugar part (glycone) is made up of glucose.
