Agrobiodiversity

By agrobiodiversity we mean the diversity of species related to agricultural systems.
Agrobiodiversity is fundamentally linked to agro-ecosystems, that is, to natural ecosystems modified by man with the introduction of cultivation for agricultural production.
Agrobiodiversity is currently defined more simply as biodiversity linked to plant and animal species of agricultural interest, therefore important for food and agriculture.

Agrobiodiversity is a part of the variability of biodiversity and represents genetic diversity within agricultural systems, i.e. agro-ecosystems.
Furthermore, with the term agricultural biodiversity or agrobiodiversity, we indicate all the heritage of plant, animal and microbial genetic resources formed, by the action of biological mechanisms and by natural selection, in the long times of evolution and accumulated, since the beginning of agriculture , about 10,000 years ago, by generations of farmers and breeders who have domesticated, selected and transferred, from different geographical areas, all those species from which to obtain products useful to humans.
