Natural White Oil DIY

The white oil produced on the farm is one of the easiest, cheapest and most environmentally friendly preparations to make.
In many countries (the United States and Australia in the lead) it is also known as “Natural White Oil”. White oil is a widespread natural remedy especially for citrus fruit parasites. However, we must be careful about its phytotoxicity, which is consequent to the penetration by capillarity within the plant tissues (especially if used in high quantities, for plants with a more delicate leaf texture and in hot hours). As for the insecticide action is due to the occlusion of the tracheal spiracles with consequent death of the insect by asphyxia.
It is a broad spectrum natural pesticide. It is used as a spray to be sprayed on plants to be treated for the treatment of a wide range of pests. The spray acts like mineral oil: it forms a very thin layer that blocks the breathing pores of the insects causing their suffocation and death. For this reason it is effective for the treatment and prevention of infestations of aphids, cochineal, mites, defoliant insects and other pests.
The product should be sprayed especially on the lower pages of the plants where most of the many parasites are often hidden.

Remember that it is not miscible with sulfur and is harmful for fat plants or plants with thick leaves.
The ingredients required for the recipe are 100 grams of oil (seed oil, corn oil, soybean oil, canola oil, olive oil, etc. *), 10 g of Marseille soap ** and 10 lt of water (it is good to emulsify the product well and shake well periodically before spraying.) Different proportions can be used depending on different situations but it is always the experience that makes us understand the best relationship. This organic insecticide should be used pure for the treatment of an ongoing infestation or with greater dilutions in the case of preventive treatment.

* It should be remembered, however, that oils obtained by simple pressing are preferable from those of seeds because the latter, due to the type of extraction adopted, always carry with them traces of hydrocarbons.
** the soap increases the residence time of this product and also carries out an insecticidal action.
