How to prepare orange ice cream
Orange ice cream is a great idea to refresh summer days. Here is a simple recipe to prepare orange ice cream:
Ingredients:
3 oranges (juice and zest)
250 ml of whole milk
250 ml of fresh whipping cream
150 g of sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract (or vanilla seeds)
A pinch of salt
Instructions:
Wash the oranges well and grate the zest of one or two oranges, trying to avoid the bitter white part. Then squeeze the juice from the oranges.
In a bowl, mix the orange juice, grated zest and sugar until the sugar has completely dissolved.
Add the whole milk and vanilla extract (or vanilla seeds) to the orange juice and sugar mixture. Mix well.
In another bowl, whip the fresh cream until smooth but firm.
Combine the whipped cream with the orange juice mixture and mix gently until smooth.
Add a pinch of salt to enhance the taste of the orange.
Transfer the batter to an ice cream maker and follow the manufacturer’s directions for making the ice cream. Alternatively, you can pour the batter into a lidded container and freeze, stirring well every 30-45 minutes during the first 2-3 hours to prevent ice crystals from forming.
Once the orange ice cream has reached the desired consistency, you can enjoy it directly or transfer it to an airtight container to keep it in the freezer.
Serve the orange ice cream by decorating with slices of fresh orange or grated zest, if desired.
