The peat pots are small containers (a few cm) that are used to create biodegradable seedbeds.
The peat pots are made with 100% organic and environmentally friendly materials, which make it easier to plant the plants with the advantage of not causing stress and trauma to the roots as, after the emergence of the seedlings, they can be placed directly in the ground or in a permanent pot for cultivation.
The peat pots for sowing are in fact an ideal solution to germinate the seeds and carry out the plant: thanks to the biodegradable material, the pot can in fact be buried with the whole plant, in the garden or inside a larger container. , without risks for the root system.
In this sense, peat jars, in addition to being extremely comfortable and practical, protect the environment and ensure the optimal development of plants and vegetables that are not affected by the trauma of transplanting.
These jars are commercially available, both at specialty stores and on the internet, and can be of various sizes and shapes.
They range from round ones, with a diameter ranging from 8 to 12 cm, to square ones in a wide range of sizes.
Usage –
The peat pots are quick and easy to use. These must be filled ¾ with a sowing substrate, which must be slightly compacted and humidified, after which one or more seeds are placed in the center of this (depending on the degree of germination of the plant) and covered with the remaining part of sowing soil, leaving a few mm up to the edge of the pot.
At this point, the soil is slightly compacted and the soil is watered, making sure that there is sufficient drainage on the bottom of the tray or of the area where you place these jars and no stagnation occurs.
The jar must be watered several times a day and kept in a shaded area until the emergence of the young plant.
At this point you have to wait for the seed to sprout, gradually exposing the jar to full sun.
The advantage of the peat pot is that at the time of transplanting, it will be necessary to plant everything, including the pot that must be completely covered by the soil of the garden or the container in which it will be inserted, and water.
In this way, the young plant will not have a post-transplant growth arrest with a consequent delay in entry into production.
