With the term dart, in botany, we mean a small branch which, if destined to carry a wood bud, is called a vegetative dart, if instead it carries a series of flower buds with the central wood dart it is called a floriferous dart.
The term dart comes from the Old French dard, of Franconian origin.
The dart is a short branch, usually between 5 and 10 cm, which ends with flower buds or with a wood bud.
The dart is a small branch typical of plants belonging to stone fruit, a group of fruit trees that belong to the Rosaceae family, subfamily Prunoideae, and which produce a drupe as fruit. It includes peach, plum, apricot, almond and cherry.
