Guido Bissanti

Guido Bissanti was born in Cinisi (PA) in 1955 and is a Doctor of Agronomy who graduated from the Faculty of Agriculture of the University of Palermo. After graduation, he worked as a researcher, with funds financed by the CNR, on biological and integrated control programs. He was a professor of “Biological and integrated control of animal organisms” at the Faculty of Agriculture of Palermo.
From 1991 to 1998 he held the position of president of the Order of Doctors of Agronomy and Doctors of Forestry of the province of Agrigento; from 1995 to 1998 he was president of the Regional Federation of the Orders of Doctors of Agronomy and Doctors of Forestry of Sicily.
From 2000 to 2004 and from 2007 to 2008 he was a member of the National Council of Doctors of Agronomy and Doctors of Forestry for which he was delegated for environmental matters.
From 2001 to 2005 he was a member, representing the National Council of Agronomists and Forestry Doctors, of the Committee of European Agricultural Engineers (CEDIA) based in Brussels and of the Committee of Associations of European Graduate Engineers (CLAIU) based in Brussels.
Since 1995 he has been co-editor of the Official Organ of the National Council of Agronomists and Forestry Doctors – Agroambiente and, subsequently, of AF.
He was an expert member of Biotechnology for the Department of Agriculture and Forestry of the Sicilian Region.
In addition to some scientific publications he has published several articles in periodicals, specialized in environmental and territorial planning matters.
In 1999 he published the volume: “Sviluppo Rurale e Rinascimento Politico” published by Nuova Ipsa of Palermo.
In 2003 he published the volume: “Dalla Materia al Padre” published by Mario Grispo Editore of Palermo.
In 2008 he published the volume: “Il Digital Divide Nelle Campagne Italiane” published by Digitaria of Rome.
In 2015 he published the volume: “Come il Titanic?” published by Aracne of Rome.
In 2022 he published the volume: “Ecologia tra cielo e terra” published by Medinova of Favara (AG).
In 2025 he published, together with other authors, the volume: “Principi e Fondamenti di Agroecologia” published by Medinova of Favara (AG).
On June 20, 2016, in Montecitorio, he received the National Award for the Environment “Gianfranco Merli” – 2016.
On August 27, 2016, in Santa Margherita di Belice (AG), he received the Stelle del Gattopardo Award 2016: the Award that is assigned to men and ideas from the world of culture, science, solidarity and art in the Terre Sicane.
On December 9, 2017, in Favara (AG), during the XIX Edition of the Ignazio Buttitta Award, he received the Special Recognition for the Environment.
Over the years he has been interested in promoting Conferences and Debates on Environmental issues, on Sustainable Development, Environmental Thermodynamics and Socioeconomic Ethics. In this role he has been coordinator or speaker of conferences on the subject.
In 2001 he founded the Volunteer Association for the Application of Sustainable Development – Terredelsud of which he is currently the President.
He is the President of the Ecosection “Valle dei Templi” of the Movimento Azzurro, an environmental protection association with voluntary characteristics and a non-profit organization of social utility at the national level, recognized by the State pursuant to law 349/86.
He was the scientific director of the International Festival of Mediterranean Identity in Marzamemi – 2024.
He is the President of the Agroecology Coordination of Sicily, which was the promoter of the regional law of Sicily on agroecology.
He is the President of the Agroecological Biodistrict Valle dei Templi.
He is a member of the permanent technical table on Agroecology and Organic Agriculture established at the Department of Agriculture, Rural Development and Mediterranean Fisheries of the Sicilian Region.
He deals in particular with Agroecology, Territorial Planning, Environmental Thermodynamics, Sustainable Development and Analysis of Environmental and Rural Policies.
