Myrtenol

Myrtenol

Myrtenol is an organic substance contained in some plants and especially in the essential oil of myrtle (Myrtus communis L., 1753), of which it is the main component and to which it partly confers its properties.
In the official IUPAC nomenclature it is called: (6,6-dimethyl-2-bicycle [3.1.1] hept-2-enyl) methanol
Myrtenol has a molecular formula: C10H16O.
Myrtenol is therefore a substance of natural origin, synthesized by many plants and which is found, among others, in Alpinia chinensis, Hamamelis virginiana and other plants.
Myrtenol is a bioactive substance also isolated from Taxus species.
