Connatin, whose term in the official IUPAC nomenclature is: (2S) -2-amino-5- [dimethylcarbamoyl (hydroxy) amino] pentanoic acid is a naturally occurring acid.
This substance has a brute or molecular formula: C8H17N3O4.
Connatin is a molecule with particular mutagenic properties discovered by Austrian researchers.
This substance was found in nature in a fungal species which is Lyophyllum connatum (Lyophyllum connatum (Sh. Ex Fr.) Sing).
Connatin, from in vitro tests, seems to be able to produce free radicals having as basic structure 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrilhydrazil (DPPH).
