The viminol, whose term in the official IUPAC nomenclature is:
1- [1 – [(2-chlorophenyl) methyl] pyrrol-2-yl] -2- [di (butan-2-yl) amino] ethanol is an alkaloid of synthetic origin.
Viminolum, also known by the names of diviminol, Viminolum has a brute or molecular formula: C21H31N2ClO.
Viminol, unlike other opioids, is an opioid analgesic that is based on the α-pyrrol-2-aminoethanol structure.
This substance has both antitussive (cough suppressant) and analgesic (pain relief) effects.
Viminol has additional effects similar to other opioids including sedation and euphoria. [5] Since viminol is supplied as a racemic mixture of isomers, the overall effect is a mixed agonist-antagonist profile similar to that of opioids such as pentazocine, albeit with slightly fewer side effects.
