Cafedrine, also known by the names of Norephendrinetheophillina or Cafedrinum is an alkaloid with a brute or molecular formula: C18H23N5O3.
In the official IUPAC nomenclature it is: (RS) -7- [2 – [(1-hydroxy-1-phenylpropan-2-yl) amino] ethyl] -1,3-dimethylpurine-2,6-dione.
Cafredrine, which is a substance derived from the union of two molecules and that is between norephedrine and theophylline, is a substance that is used in the pharmacological field as a cardiac stimulant, in the treatment of acute or chronic hypotension regardless of the pharmacological mechanism and used to increase blood pressure.
Cafredrine is also used to help awaken patients after receiving anesthesia.
