Sulforane
Sulforane
Sulforane is a compound belonging to isothiocyanates which are molecules containing, in their structure, a sulfur atom.
Sulforane is a relatively recently discovered substance, contained in some vegetables including, in particular, in broccoli and cauliflower.
It is a substance of which, recent studies, are highlighting the benefits, for human health, within a healthy diet.
Among the benefits induced by this molecule, if taken with a balanced diet we mention its particular properties; the sulforan in fact has:
– antioxidant properties;
– anti-inflammatory properties;
– antibacterial properties;
– anticancer properties.
It is precisely the latter, i.e. the anticancer properties of broccoli, and of the sulforane present in these vegetables, that this substance is coming to the fore, discovered in 1992 and made known thanks to the demonstration of its contrasting action against the development of cancer cells.
According to some studies, sulforane has proved capable of decreasing the weight and volume of these cells, also reducing their metastatic capacity respectively.
These are properties related to the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory capacity.
Sulfurane was also particularly important in lowering blood pressure, protecting the cardiovascular system, protecting the retina from photo-oxidative damage and in the well-being of our liver thanks to its detoxifying action.
