Hemicryptophytes

With the term hemicriptophyte, in the biotypical classification of C. Raunkaier, we mean those perennial plants with buds located on the surface of the ground and often protected, during the unfavorable season, from scales, leaf sheaths etc.
Perennial, in botany, means a plant with a life cycle that lasts for more than two years. Perennial plants can flower and bear fruit only once (monocarpic plants, such as agaves) or, as normally happens for several years in a row.
They are among the hemicriptite for example. many poacee, like the fagots.
Hemicryptophytes, in turn, are divided into the following types:

– h bienn – biennial hemicryptophytes. Biennial cycle plants with buds placed at ground level;
– h caesp – cespitose hemicryptophytes. Perennial plants by means of buds placed at ground level and with the appearance of tight tufts;
– h rept – hemicryptophytes reptanti. Perennial plants by means of buds placed at ground level and with creeping stems;
– h ros – rosy hemicriptophytes. Perennial plants by means of buds placed at ground level and with leaves arranged in a basal rosette;
– h scand – scanning hemicryptophytes. Perennial plants by means of buds placed at ground level and with climbing posture;
– h scap – scapular hemicryptophytes. Perennial plants by means of buds placed at ground level and with flowering axis, often without leaves.
