Juss., 1830) a, is a plant with multiple applications: from medicinal ones to use as a natural insecticide. This plant, native to hot and dry climates, can not stand temperatures below 5 ° C, so in Italy it can only live in some microclimates of the south and coastal areas.
Neem seed is not easy to find because it immediately loses germinability but if you can find the ideal period for it goes from mid-April to the second half of May. Fresh seeds (in groups of two or three) must be placed directly in the ground about one centimeter deep.
Germination takes place between two and three weeks. For the choice of the land it should be noted that the Neem, also growing on almost all types of soil, including clayey, salty or alkaline and even on dry, stony and calcareous soils, benefits greatly from good soil fertility and above all good drainage. Regarding the irrigation contributions it is emphasized that it does not need a lot of water but instead takes advantage of very sunny areas.
The growth of this plant is slow in the first year of life and in this period they are more intolerant to the shade and the cold climate. Fructification takes place on average after the fourth year of life and full fruiting is reached towards the tenth year. It is a centenary tree.
