Malga

Malga

The term malga means alpine pasture (or pasture) which is the agro-zootechnical activity that takes place in the mountains during the summer months.
The same term also indicates a rustic construction (or hut) of stones and wood used as a dwelling for shepherds in the summer, also including the stable for the animals and the dairy for processing milk.
In general, therefore, the term malga or alpe refers to the set of fixed and mobile production factors in which the activity of montication takes place (which is a phase of transhumance); factors including buildings, land, equipment, animals and processing of the milk produced.
