Sabinene

Sabinene is a natural monoterpene consisting of two aromatic rings, one of which is the cyclopentane fused with a cyclopropane ring. Its name in the IUPAC terminology is: 4-methylene-1- (1-methylethyl) -bicycle [3.1.0] hexane and its brute or molecular formula is: C10H16.
Sabinene is extracted from the essential oils of some plant varieties including Holm oak (Quercus ilex) and Norway spruce (Picea abies).

It is also found in the essential oil of grapefruit, in the essential oil of the common juniper (Juniperus communis L.), in the essential oil of the Phoenician juniper or Cedarwood (Juniperus phoenicea L.), in the essential oil of Juniper sabina (Juniperus sabina L.).
Sabinene is one of the chemical compounds that also contributes to the spicing of black pepper and is an important component of carrot seed oil. It is also found in the essential oil of the low-concentration tea tree. It is present, among others, also in the essential oil obtained from nutmeg, Laurus nobilis and the small shrub of the anisated Clausena.
