Bio Do-it-yourself Fertilizer

Bio Do-it-yourself Fertilizer

More and more in the future we will have to go towards virtuous farms in terms of energy and ecology. This means that we have to produce, as much as possible, fertilizers and other factors that enter the production cycle. Here’s how to produce an excellent bio fertilizer starting from “ingredients” that you can find in the company and nearby. This bio fertilizer can be used both as foliar fertilization on fruit plants and vegetables, or in fertiirrigation. The starting compounds are: the whey that gives an enzyme, microbial fillers, lactic acid, hormones, amino acids and proteins; Biolite rock powder that enriches with minerals; molasses rich in sugar and energy; brewer’s yeast that transforms sugars (saccharomyces). Clearly the benefits are ecological and economical.

In fact this bio fertilizer contributes to a good mineralization of some elements, increases the immune response of plants, helps the creation of uric acids and agglomerates in the soil (anti-erosion), stimulates the ecological succession, reduces by 30-40% the use of other fertilizers, increases production by 30-35% and then enriches the soil. Below we give the quantities for the preparation of 200 liters of bio fertilizer. In the meantime, it is necessary to use 100-liter plastic bins, with an airtight lid on which to prepare a vent with a metal tap, then siliconised (the bio-fertilizer ferments for at least 2-3 weeks). At the tap is connected an irrigation rubber hose of about 50 cm which will then be inserted into a plastic bottle filled with water; this will be hung on the edge of the lid when operations have been completed. For the preparation of the mixture (which must be fermented) it is advisable to use a beater and perform the operation at temperatures not lower than 15 ° and preferably higher. Also for the conservation it is highlighted the need to keep it in temperate rooms without thermal changes. If stored under mainly anaerobic conditions, it remains usable for 18-24 months.
For 200 liters of preparation, obtain therefore: fresh cow dung, 50 kg (as poor as possible straw); whey, at least 4 kg to mix it with yeast and molasses (if possible, procure in quantity, even 150-180 liters, so as not to use water for the preparation); molasses, 2 liters; rock powder Biolite, 4 kg; brewer’s yeast, 200 gr.
At this point you have to mix in a bucket the 4 liters of whey with molasses and yeast (to facilitate the melting operation of the molasses it is recommended to add a couple of liters of hot water). In the two 100-liter bins, mix the 180-liter whey with the manure and rock dust with the beater. Pour the contents of the bucket into equal quantities in the two large bins, mix everything evenly. At this point cover with the lids and fix the bottles that act as vents. Let the fermentation begin, which begins a few moments after mixing the ingredients, and lasts for at least 15-20 days. In fermentation conditions at 20-25 ° C the product can be used one month after preparation: it is advisable to let it “work” for longer periods and to use it after three months.
The optimal characteristics of the bio fertilizer are: brownish color; fruity-acidognolo smell; presence of yeasts on the surface with white or beige patinas. Be sure to remove any black mold or dense material that has emerged on the surface.
For uses we recommend: after 1 month from the preparation, as foliar on fruit plants; after 2 months from the preparation, as foliar on the cereals and after 3 months from the preparation for the vegetables, both as foliar and in fertiirrigazione. We do not recommend using it during blooms. Obviously the operations of using the bio-fertilizer must be done either in the morning or, better still in the late afternoon.
