Lemon Essential Oil – properties and uses
Lemon essential oil is obtained from Lemon (Citrus limon (L.) Osbeck) and is known and known for its properties and also for its beneficial effects on the skin. Its main applications are in fact to fight cellulite, to eliminate acne and reduce anxiety and nervousness. Due to its characteristics, this essential oil stimulates lymphatic and venous circulation and has properties that strengthen the blood vessels and fluidize the blood. For this reason it is an excellent natural remedy to combat the symptoms of heavy legs. In short, it has a good detoxifying and purifying and toning effect and is particularly indicated for those with oily skin.
Important are the antibiotic and haemostatic properties of the essential oil of lemon with uses in case of wounds, infections of various kinds, stomatitis, herpes, gum infections, etc .. It is also used, vaporized in domestic environments, according to some studies, to regenerate and enhance mental concentration.
One of the interesting applications of lemon essential oil is that it can lighten up to eliminate facial spots due to sunspots, age spots, wrinkles or stretch marks.
It is also used to whiten teeth, to reinforce nails, as an anti-dandruff, as a disinfectant for dishwashing, as a laundry disinfectant and for many other applications.
Like all essential oils, it must always be diluted in a carrier oil (extra virgin olive oil or almond oil) in varying concentrations (a few drops in a spoon containing the carrier oil).
It can also be used for internal use (it must however be a great food grade that can be used as food flavorings according to DL 107/92 and Reg. CE 1334/08) and also in this case in very high dilutions in drinks such as chamomile, herbal teas or the or water.
